I am writing to report on a favour granted through Pedro’s intercession.
I am the director of a university hall of residence. For the past two years, we have been renovating the property we own, which will become the hall’s permanent home; we are currently renting a property from a foundation that supports schools; they are putting up with us but would like us to vacate the premises as soon as possible. The agreement was that we would vacate their property in August and they would take it over on 6 October 2026.
In July 2026, the construction firm responsible for renovating the new premises encountered major difficulties and was removed from the project, resulting in a halt to the works and a delay in the handover of the new property.
No new home, no move, and therefore more time in the old premises – much to the great disappointment of the Foundation, which had already drawn up plans for refurbishment and use from October 2026 onwards. During a series of meetings held between July, August and September 2026, the owners reiterated that the problem was ours, not theirs, and that we, with 25 residents, therefore had to vacate the property, even without anywhere else to go.
Not knowing which solution to choose, I asked Pedro to persuade the Foundation’s management to be more accommodating so that, without causing harm to anyone, we could remain in the old property for a few more months.
Today, following the meeting with the Foundation, I can say that Pedro ‘has worked a miracle’; we will remain in the old premises until 31 March 2027, by which time the new premises will already be ready to welcome us. I cannot explain the Foundation’s drastic change of stance; until a few weeks ago, the Foundation’s Chairman had insisted that we should vacate the premises as soon as possible.
I shall continue to check with Pedro that work on the new premises is progressing well and that we can honour the commitment made to the Foundation to vacate the old premises by 31 March 2027.
