Before I recount the details of my favor, I'd like to preface by saying practically everyone who has come in contact with Opus Dei somehow in Calgary knows about Pedrito and is asking him to pray for many things. And he delivers.
Re favor received: A few weeks ago, I was at work ready to embark on my day job. The job is great and I love it but that day started off and continued to be a rough day. Certainly one for the ages.
I work as a financial consultant for a large Canadian wealth management firm. Part of my job entails meeting with clients (usually husband and wife) to discuss details of their lives, their financial plan and overall well-being. A very important service we render to our clients, but also important to us for record keeping, is summarizing the meetings with carefully documented notes that we can share with our clients and also save in our files. To help us accomplish this we use an AI scribe (note-taker) that records the meetings in-person, transcribes it and is able to produce wonderful summaries and notes of meetings right after they take place. For over a year, we'd used this one reliable app for its service and we were utterly satisfied with its product. Now the stage is set...
A few weeks ago, my team lead and I were scheduled to meet with our clients for a 10am meeting in person at the office. They (the couple) arrived, we exchanged pleasantries and the meeting began as expected and on time. Prior to the meeting I had launched the app on my cell phone and initiated the recording of the meeting to take place. Everything looked good and we were all set to go...or so it seemed. The meeting went on for close to 1.5 hrs and all through the meeting I kept monitoring my device to make sure the recording was still on and I got good feedback from the app. We were green and good.
Keep in mind, part of what we tell our clients is not to worry about taking notes of their own so that we can have their full attention during the meeting and vice versa, because we will securely share the summary provided by our tool, which they can safely keep for future reference. A huge relief for the vast majority of our clients. Now, at the end of this meeting, I stopped and finished the recording, which is when the app usually summarizes and titles the meeting. After sending the clients off on their way, I look at my phone and all hell breaks loose. There is absolutely NO TRACE whatsoever of my meeting. In the past, I had had a couple of hiccups with the app but typically when those occur I can see a link on the app for the meeting but either it gives me an error message or some erroneous transcription of the meeting. There was always evidence that a recording had taken place or at least attempted. In this case there was absolutely nothing. I went to my team lead and asked him to verify on the desktop version of the app if he can see the recording -- which we normally can -- but the same thing, he couldn't see anything. There was simply nothing. My meeting had vanished. In fact, as far as the app was concerned, it just never happened.
I go into my office, open the desktop app, logout and log back into the tool on my phone, refresh the page on both the phone and web browser multiple times and still get nothing. At this point everything seemed futile and my frustration began to boil over, and then immediately I said to Pedro, "Dude, I can't deal with this. I need you to rescue my meeting." And, call me crazy, but at that same instant I sensed an urge from Pedro saying to me "let's say one Hail Mary and leave it alone", which I did...with him.
After the Hail Mary, I leave the office for a short get together with a friend, we have a nice chat, and I'm slowly getting "re-combobulated." After we get together, I head back to the office, check my phone and my desktop for the recording, but still nothing. We are now approx. 2 hrs after the meeting had taken place. At this point I sit on my chair and decide to record, using the same tool, a summary of how much of the meeting I could remember. I do that for about 10 minutes or so. Once I stop my voice-recording and return to the homescreen, I see 3 new links. One of them is the link for the voice recording I just did, the other one was a dud with nothing in it and the third was, the full meeting with full notes, transcription and summary from earlier that morning. My meeting had been rescued!!!! But how? It made no sense to me. The timestamp on those new links was the exact same time I had begun my attempt at recreating the meeting with my voice-recording. This was such a mystery even to the support team of the service provider that when I told them my recording was back all they could say was "It looks like the Android app uploaded the meeting from your device when you reopened the app." Which I read as "we have no idea what just happened here". I had obviously reopened the app several times prior to leaving for my get together with my friend; I also reopened it when I got back to "recreate" that meeting from memory and at none of those times did my meeting just show up.
In any event, I was the happiest man in the office that day. Maybe the app did upload the meeting from my device when I reopened the app, maybe it didn't, maybe I was hallucinating and the meeting was there all along but somehow my teammate and I couldn't see it. A few maybes but one thing is for sure: Pedro came to the rescue...again.
