From Seville (Spain): Pedro Ballester's 30th birthday was the exact day I received the news

For some time I had been preparing my application to join a highly prestigious master's programme. I was well aware of my limitations compared to other candidates: the level of the competing profiles was high, and I clearly fell behind in several respects. I had little hope of being accepted.

It was during those days that I learned of the opening of Pedro Ballester's cause of beatification. Without giving it too much thought, I decided to entrust my application to him. I asked him that, if it were God's will, he might help me gain admission to the programme.

What followed, I did not at the time connect with my petition. Over the course of those days, I ran into Pedro's brother on two separate occasions. I had never crossed paths with him before, let alone twice in such quick succession. I noticed it, but did not think much of it.

On Friday, 22nd May, I received a phone call: I had been accepted into the master's programme. The joy was so great that, in that first moment, I almost forgot that I had asked Pedro for this.

It was my spiritual director who drew my attention to something I had overlooked. As I was telling him what had happened, he asked me the exact date on which I had received the news. When I told him it had been the 22nd of May, he fell silent for a moment. That day was Pedro Ballester's 30th birthday.

I am convinced that Pedro interceded for me before God. The date on which I received the news, the encounters with his brother during those days, and the resolution of something that humanly seemed very unlikely — all of this leads me to a deep personal certainty: Pedro heard my petition and brought it before the Lord. I am sincerely grateful to him, and I hope that this testimony may contribute, to whatever extent it proves useful, to the recognition of his holiness.

Respectfully yours,

CM (Seville, Spain)
